Frequently asked questions
Is designing irrigation in IrriForge free?+
Yes. Drawing your plot, automatic sprinkler placement, the coverage map, zoning and the on-screen bill of materials are free with no time limit. You only pay to export the installer-ready PDF report and the client quote with your own margin.
Do I need to understand hydraulics?+
No. You provide two things you can measure yourself: tap pressure and flow rate (the bucket test — how many seconds to fill 10 litres). IrriForge handles the rest — nozzle selection, spacing, pipe diameters, pressure loss and zoning — and warns you when a zone exceeds the available flow.
How do I know the sprinkler layout is correct?+
The auto-design follows the same rules the Hunter and Rain Bird design manuals state: head-to-head spacing (every sprinkler throws to its neighbour), matched precipitation within a zone, and canonical 90°, 180° and 360° arcs. You see the result on the uniformity map — dry spots are marked before you buy anything.
Is IrriForge tied to a distributor or manufacturer?+
No, and that is deliberate — a free design from a distributor is free because it locks you into their catalogue and their margin. IrriForge uses Hunter and Rain Bird performance data but earns nothing from which parts you choose.
What exactly is in the PDF report?+
A scaled overall plan, the coverage and uniformity map, numbered sprinklers with a legend, the pipe and infrastructure drawing, a dimensioned set-out sheet for every zone, water-source and hydraulic parameters, a watering schedule, an install-time estimate and the bill of materials. Pro adds a client quote with your own margin and logo.
Is an IrriForge design enough for an installer?+
Yes — the report carries everything needed to quote and install, including set-out dimensions. It is a design aid rather than stamped executive documentation, but in practice it is exactly what an installer asks for at the start of the conversation.
